Soft-Decision COVQ for M-ary PAM Modulated AWGN and Rayleigh Fading Channels
Developments in vector quantization based joint source-channel coding have produced codes which efficiently and reliably transmit data signals over noisy channels. Further advancements through soft-decision decoding have shown improvements in signal-to-distortion ratio (SDR) over hard-decoding. We present a q-bit soft decision demodulator for the vector quantization of Gaussian and Gauss-Markov...
متن کاملPerformance of COVQ over AWGN/Rayleigh Channels with Soft-Decision BPSK Modulation
A channel-optimized vector quantizer (COVQ) scheme that exploits the channel soft-decision information is proposed. The scheme is designed for stationary memoryless Gaussian and Gauss-Markov sources transmitted over BPSK-modulated additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) or Rayleigh fading channels. It is demonstrated that coding gains of up to 2 dB can be achieved at low channel signal-to-noise ra...

PN code tracking is one of the most important factors that affect the performance of spread spectrum receivers. It is desirable to maintain PN code tracking for a long period of time and with high accuracy. This paper presents a non-coherent digital delay-locked loop (DLL) for code tracking in direct-sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) systems. The proposed technique utilizes three non-coherent co...
متن کاملSoft decision-directed MAP estimate of fast Rayleigh flat fading channels
In this letter, an iterative receiver with soft-decision feedback is derived by using the expectation–maximization algorithm for maximum a posteriori estimate of fast Rayleigh flat fading channels. Simulation results indicate that in a fast fading environment, the derived receiver can perform better than an iterative receiver with hard-decision feedback.
متن کاملBit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
